{"id":163,"date":"2013-09-28T11:59:34","date_gmt":"2013-09-28T11:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.faith-lutheran-lcms.org\/?page_id=163"},"modified":"2022-05-05T12:36:21","modified_gmt":"2022-05-05T18:36:21","slug":"what-we-believe","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.faith-lutheran-lcms.org\/?page_id=163","title":{"rendered":"WHAT WE BELIEVE"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is taught among us that we cannot obtain forgiveness of sin and righteousness before God by our own merits, works, or satisfactions, but that we receive forgiveness of sin and become righteous before God by grace, for Christ\u2019s sake, through faith when we believe that Christ suffered for us and that for His sake our sin is forgiven and righteousness and eternal life are given to us.\u00a0 For God will regard and reckon this faith as righteousness, as Paul says in Romans 3:21-26 and Romans 4:5.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>&#8211;The Book of Concord,\u00a0\u00a0 A.D. 1580<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h3>\u00a0_____________________________________________<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.faith-lutheran-lcms.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/gracefaithscripturealone.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-600\" src=\"http:\/\/www.faith-lutheran-lcms.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/gracefaithscripturealone-293x300.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.faith-lutheran-lcms.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/gracefaithscripturealone-293x300.webp 293w, http:\/\/www.faith-lutheran-lcms.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/gracefaithscripturealone.webp 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 293px) 100vw, 293px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>GRACE ALONE\u2014<\/strong>God demonstrates His own love for us in this:\u00a0 While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Romans 5:8<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>What does this mean?<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Because there\u00a0 was nothing that anyone could do to help sinners, God came to your rescue even though you didn\u2019t deserve it.\u00a0 He sent into this world His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life in your stead, and offer Himself as the sacrifice for your sin upon the cross.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>FAITH ALONE\u2014<\/strong>So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.\u00a0 Romans 10:17<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong>What does this mean?<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0 Because you cannot create faith that will save you by your own self, God\u2019s Holy Spirit works through the Word of God, calling you to faith through the hearing of His Gospel found in the Holy Bible.<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>SCRIPTURE ALONE\u2014<\/strong>All Scripture is God breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.\u00a0 2 Timothy 3:16<\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What does this mean?<\/strong>\u00a0 Scripture alone is what norms the teaching of the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod), and not the opinions of human beings.<\/span><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is taught among us that we cannot obtain forgiveness of sin and righteousness before God by our own merits, works, or satisfactions, but that we receive forgiveness of sin and become righteous before God by grace, for Christ\u2019s sake, &hellip;
